TinkRcamp is our version of summer camp, but way more awesome! Spend a fun-filled week designing a robot, teaching a drone to fly, merging the real-world with Minecraft or learning to use your Jedi Force. You and your new friends will learn to make all of these (and more) using new and old making skills such as coding, CAD, 3D-printing, sawing, drilling and soldering!

Frequently Asked Questions

TinkRworks is creating the next generation of innovators and problem-solvers by delivering exceptional STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) experiences to children. Through summer camp and after-school programs designed for children who are excited about learning and curious about the world (“TinkRers”), we reinforce what children learn in school and go beyond to expose them to cutting-edge, real-world applications of those learnings.

There are no prerequisites for current TinkRworks classes and TinkRcamp sessions. TinkRcamp projects are designed for TinkRers aged 9-12 while after-school programs are designed for TinkRers aged 6-18.

Our instructor base comprises lifelong TinkRers – PhDs, university professors, technology-industry veterans, and gifted teachers – who share a passion for supporting and guiding each TinkRer to success

We believe that a low student-to-instructor ratio is critical to allowing students to explore new learnings and experiences. To enable this, our student-to-instructor ratio is 6:1.

At TinkRworks, we provide hands-on experiences that teach children to make – and to think – through experimentation, failure and iteration. Our approach emphasizes:

Project-based learning

Holistic curriculum

Inter-disciplinary approach

Leveraging the best available resources

All TinkRcamp sessions run from 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM daily. Drop off is available between 8:30 AM and 9:00 AM and pickup is from 4:30 PM – 5:00 PM. Children may be dropped off as early as 8:00 AM and may be picked up as late as 5:30 PM for an additional $50 weekly fee.

For full day camps, mornings are typically reserved for the introduction of fundamental concepts or skills, while the afternoon is dedicated for experimentation. Children will have an hour for lunch and also have breaks both in the morning and afternoon sessions.

Half-day camps are typically divided into two parts separated by a break where the first part of camp introduces concepts and the second allows for experimentation.

Children will have an hour for lunch and breaks during both morning and afternoon sessions where they can participate in both indoor and outdoor recreational activities with other TinkRers.

Yes, for an additional fee. During checkout, please indicate whether or not your child will be bringing lunch.

If bringing a lunch from home, your child is requested to bring his/her own nut-free lunch.  Snacks will be provided each day.

Each TinkRcamp will have one instructor for each 6 children and one additional aide to ensure that students are well supervised during all sessions, breaks, lunch, and activities.

All outdoor projects and activities have an indoor variation planned in case of inclement weather.

No. However, we will work with you and your child to catch-up any missed material during the remainder of the TinkRcamp session.

TinkRworks has more than just TinkRcamp sessions; we also have a year-long after-school program to ensure ongoing engagement for TinkRers.  We will be starting after-school programming in the Fall of 2016, utilizing an Engagement Center that we will open for children who want to continue their TinkRworks experience.  Please contact us if you are interested in learning more about this offering.

Each TinkRcamp session costs $799 per TinkRer; some camps have additional materials fees as indicated.

We currently have discounts in place for multi-session registration, sibling registration, and referrals.  For multi-session registration, after paying full-price for the first TinkRcamp, each additional TinkRcamp will be discounted by $50. Similarly, a sibling registration discount of $50 will be applied for each sibling of a previously enrolled TinkRer.  In the case of referrals, we offer a $50 TinkRcamp credit for each registration that results from a referral; an unlimited number of referral credits may be accrued.
